Notice is hsrcay given that an elec
tion has boon called by tho Board
of Directors of the Talent Irrigation
District of Jackson County, Oregn.i.
and the same will be held on Tuesday,
the 21st day of August, 1917. between
the hours of eight o'clock A. M. ami
five o'clock P. M. for the purpose of
voting upon and determining whether
or not the Talent Irrigation District
shall issue bonds In the sum of six
hundred thousand ($f.00.000) dollars
for the purpose, necessary or coir, en
ient, of carrying out. the provision
of a certain act passed by the ren
eral assembly of the state of Oregon,
of 1917, and known as House Bill
number (1581, being chapter (3u7) of
the General Laws of Oregon. 1917.
The polling place for said elec'Ion
shall be in the Garage, on the ranch
owned by the Talent Orchard Co ,
and located on the N. E. V, of S. E.
Yt of section (22) Twn. (38) 1 West
of the Willamette Meridian, and being
within the boundaries of the Talent
'Irrigation District, Jackson County,
Oregon.
Tho electors of said Talent IriUa-
tlon District are hereby required to
cast ballots at said election which

An Ordinance granting to Oregon
and California Railroad Company, a
corporation, its successor, lessees and
assigns, a ten-year franchise and right
to construct, lay down, own, maintain
and operate a railway spur track of
standard gauge, on, upon and along
Evergreen Street, between Eleventh
and Twelfth Streets, and to operate
locomotives and cars over the same, in
the city of Medford. Oregon.
THE CITY OF MEDFORD DOTH
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: '
Section 1. That thore be and is
hereby granted to Oregon and Califor
nia Railroad Company, a corporation
duly organized and existing under and
by virtue of tho laws of the State of
Oregon,' its successors, lessees and as
signs, subject to the terms, restric
tions and provisions In this ordinance
contained, a ten-year franchise, right
and privilege to construct, lay down.
own, equip, maintain and operate a
railway spur track of standard gauge
upon and along Evergreen htreet, be
tween Eleventh and TweUth Streets,
li tho City of Medford. said spur track
being an extension of a track already
existing upon said Evergreen Street,
the description ot the center line of
said extension ot track being as fol
lows: I
Beginning at a point In Evergreen
Street in the City of Medford, Oregon.
said point being approximately five
(o) feet southerly from a point oppo
site the northeast corner of lot 4
block 32, in said city, and distant
thirteen (13) feet easterly measured
at right angles from the westerly line
of. Evergreen Street, and being also
the southerly end of spur track
now constructed; thence running
southorly parallel to and thirteen
(13) feet distant easterly from the
easterly lino of said block 32. a dis
tance of ono hundred ninety-five
(195) feet to the northerly line of
Twelfth Street, in said City of Med
ford, and to operate locomotives and
cars over tho same.
Seytlon 2. Said Biur track shall he
laid as nearly as possible flush with
the grade of Evergreen Street, nnd so
as not to obstruct or Intorfero with
public travol and traffic on said
street; and snld Oregon nnd Califor
nia Railrond Company. Its successors,
lessees nnd assigns, shall nt all times
while aid pur track is maintained,
keep the street In good repair between
the rails of said traok and for two
(2) feet on each side thereof.
Section 3. Construction by Oregon
and California Railroad Company. Its
successors, lcBsecs or assigns, of the
spur track heroin described, shnll be
deemed to he an acceptance of the
right and franchise herein granted
subject to tho conditions herein sot
lorth.
Section 4. Inasmuch as the Imme
diate construction of this spur track
Is of the utmost Importance to the
general welfare of said city and Its In
habitants, and It Is for that reason
necessary for the peace, health and
safety of said City of Meilford,
emergency Is hereby declared to exist
and this ordinance shall tako effect
and be In full force from and after its
passage by tho city council anil ap
proval liy the mayor, i

Medford on the 17th day of July
