drowned In tho Sacramento river near

ty was formerly a fireman on tho
Southern Pacific, but owing to physi
cal infirmity had been transferred to
the railroad pumping station at Mor-
ley In tho vicinity of Kenneth. He
was swimming with a companion
when the drowning occurred.
An electric and dust storm prevail
ed on Monday afternoon, but there
wad no rain. Instead of moisture
thero was a series of beautiful rain
bows thruout tho Grizzly Peak region.
