May is, to a friend In this cllv.
"This has ibeen very IntereatinK

would lead one to believe, tho some

Now that the states have coma In
for the big show, I cannot see my
piace as being In the ambulance, so
nave made application and passed pre

recommendation attached: "Hlchlv

am dumped, will try the Canadian
section Royal Flying corps in Eng-

to get ny on I hope.
This 1b more of a man's Job on this
awe and from a non-political view
point (entirely military) it may con
tinue for several yoarB. If I 8et my
berth 1 don't expect to see the end.
The .British troops have clearly es
tablished their ascendancy over the
Bosche, they having superior morale
and equipment and munitions and
demonstrate It even- dav
The Canadians, Australians, New
Zealauders and the Kilties rs.-n.vh.
have sure put the fear of the devil in
the Bosche and take mlchtv few nri
oners. They do not want to hnth
with them, besides they aro too
treacherous after they have surren
dered and ore on the way to the rear.
Sn Soft 8iuiw.
I wonder If the states aro really
taking this thing seriously? Think
It ono of the best things that could
have happened to them. "Twill, when
It's brought homo to them, for It will
break up a lot of snobbish clubs and
cliques which we know so well exist,
if they do not hido out or become em
busqucs. That is what the American
Ambulance Is rapidly becoming. Many!
are arriving on each boat, sntnn In
training camp and National llnard
uniform, having beat It out looking
for soft snaps.
The old men who really made the
ambulance corps, are not re-enlisting
even when tho chance of being made
chief of section is held before them.
Tho day of ambulance should have
ceased when the slates entered. Tlie.se
