past year. The writing papers show
ing the students' hand writing were
collected at four different limes dur
ing the year. These furnished a hasis
upon which to judge improvement.

made great progress. Most of them

while now they write with freedom.

brought up from Merced county. They
were taken off the cars at Montague
and driven in three bands by way of
Yreka and the old Anderson Grade
road, to the Klamath river. From
there they will be grazed along up to
the summit of the SisMymis on range

The Ashland Choral society joins
tho .Medford Choral society in glvin,
a joint concert, program at tho Pago
theater on Friday evening, June 1."
Mr. Andrews lias been directing the
Ashland society as well as the one In
iModford and has been rehearsing tho
same music in hotii societies. They
will come together on ne.vt Tuesday
for a general rehearsal, Including the
Choral orchestra of 10 pieces. They

they have been again selected as the
best attraction to open the season.
