EAGLE POINf EAGLETS
x r By A. C. Howlett
Sunday morning there was an un.
-.y usually large attendance In the Sun
day school and after the regular les
son was disposed of the Easter pro
gram was rendered by the children,
The few ladles who Beem to bo tho
leaders In the Sunday school work
here deserve a great deal of credit
for the work they are doing In that
line and especially for the part they
take In assisting the children in pre
paring ror the various parts In the
exercises in tho entertainments.
There was a meeting of the school
board last Saturday afternoon, but
they did not get through until it was
too lute for me to put the result In
my last report or the doings In and
around Eagle Point. Tho hoard met
at the school house about 3 o'clock
and examined the various applications
for positions in our school but came
to no official conclusion as tho Indy
memner or tne board pleaded for
more time to consider the matter, al
though the other two directors had
already agreed on at least two of the
teachers. 'Prof. B. P. Nlbret was
ovr from Applegate to see the mem
bers of the school board Saturday.
The. arrangements have been made
to have a grand time here the 3rd of
May next. Those who seem to be
.linore interested in the track meet
than any of us outsiders met at the
school house and have given out thai
thero will be something over a- hun
dred dollars distributed among the
various schools that meet and that
tho Ashland high school band will
furnish the music free and that there
will be two exhibitions of moving oic-
tures in the afternoon and also at
night free and after that show there
will be a social hop, etc.; that all of
the proceeds of the dance and other
sources or Income will be applied to
the fund to be used toward putting
in a water system on. the school
ground .so as to irrigate the shrub
bery and ornamental trees. I under.
stand that all of the expense of the
water system is to be assumed by the
rnrent-ieachers' society. I under
stand that the society is to have a
stand on the ground where there will
be a supply of soft drinks, nuts, can
dles, etc., to satisfy those who desire
such things.

ouuuay evening Roy. pni g
canny, K. H. Paxson and Dr. S. A
Mfflkey or Central Point came out and
organized an auxiliary unit to the
luearora Red Cross society. Hev.
Bandy opened the exercises by sing
ing the national hymn, "The Star
Spangled Banner." followed by pray
er. He then read and commented on
the fifteenth chapter of 1 Cor., giv
ing us a short talk ou the object of
the Med Cross movement. He then
introduced Mr. Paxson who explained
more fully the object of the meeting,
xlz: to obtain new members to the
society and raise funds to relieve the
suffering of the sick and wounded
among the soldiers. Tie church
building wnswell filled as almost ev
ery seat was occupied and the result
was the enrollment of forty new mem
bers. Dr. W. W. P. Holt was elected
as president. Miss Minnie Tavlor. sec
retary; Y. V. Mclntyre, treasurer and I
Mrs. Carl Narrigan, director. After!
e close of the services Rev. Bandy !
