SALEM, March 8. At its meeting
here the new state highway commis
sion decided to divide the state into
three districts and to assign a com
missioner to each to consider peti
tions for funds for highway work.
Commissioner Benson, who Is
chairman of tho commission, will
have charge of the district composed
of the following counties: Lincoln
Polk, Tillamook, Yamhill, Washing
ton, Clatsop, Columbia, Multnomnu,
Clackamas, Hood River and Wasco
counties, Commissioner Thompson
of the district composed of all of
eastern Oregon save Klamath, Hood
River and Wasco counties, and Com
missioner Adams all of western Ore
gon save tho counties given to Com
missioner Benson, and also to have
charge of Klamath county.
Wlienever funds are asked for the
commissioner of the district in which
the request is mado will hold a hear
ing, gather all possible data relutlve
to the project to be improved, and
present the matter to the whole coin
mission. No funds will be allotted
until all applications have been
passed upon, it was tentatively de
cided.
