was too frequent and the kidney se

I had much pain in my back and
sometimes, I could hardly bend or
straighten up. At night, it bothered
me, too, and often I couldn't sleep.
I tried plasters and liniment for my
back and medicines for my kfdneys.
btu none of them helped me any. It
was while I was feeling ill and dis
couraged that I heard of Doan's Kid

well." (Statement given September

On March 16, 1916, Mrs. Charley
said: "I recommend Doan's Kidney
Pills just as high'.;- today as I did

them a medicine of merit and when
ever it is necessary for me to take a

they are most reliable."

At a meeting of the city council on
Tuesday evening, Monday, March 111,
was set as the dale for the special
election to vote on the $1,000 bond
proposition for purchasing chiintau

toward a repeal of two city ordin

their establishments on Sunday! and
the other prohibits minors from play
ing billiards in their halls. I!y impli
cation the intent is to frame an or
dinance making the ago limit as to
billiard hall privileges 18 years in
stead of 21. A dozen ladies from the
Civic Improvement club were present
and through their spokeswoman, Mrs.

for the council to join forces in a

was referred to the entire council as

distressed upon learning of tho death
of Margaret June, infant daughter of
Mrs. Pearl Johnson Dodge, who died
suddenly while on tho train, in com

11. O. Johnson, father of Mrs. Dodge,
left for Portland on Tuesday morn

cism which in the lot of the average
legislator, it is gratifying to note the
recent expressions of confidence be
stowed by Jackson county people in
general in behalf of their representa
tives at Salem during recent legislat

pprcciution it is not beyond the range
of possibility that one of the delega

BETTER THAN CALOMEL
Thousands Have Discovered Dr.
, Edwards' Olive Tablets are
a Harmless Substitute
Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets the sub
stitute lor calomel are a mild but sure
laxative, and their effect on the liver is
almost instantaneous. They are the re
sult of Dr. Edwards' determination not
to treat liver and bowel complaints with
calomel. His efforts to banish it brought
out these little olive-colored tablets.
These pleasant little tablets do the
good that calomel does, but have no bad
alter effects. They don't injure the
teeth like strong liquids or calomel.
They take hold of the trouble and
quickly correct it. Why cure the liver
at the expense of the teeth? Calomel
sometimes plays havoc with the gums.
So do stronar liquids. It is best not to
take calomel, but to let Dr. Edwards'
Olive Tablets take its place.
Most headaches, dullness and that
lazy feeling come from constipation and
a disordered liver. Take Dr. Edwards'
Olive Tablets when you feel "loggy" and
"heavy." Note how they "clear" clouded
brain and how they "perk up" the spir
its. 10c and 25c a box. All druggists.

Try Grandmother's old Favorite
Recipe of Sage Tea and
Sulphur.
Almost everyone known that Sae Tea
and Sulphur, properly compounded,
brings back tlio natural color and lustre
to the Imir when faded, Btreukcd or
gray. Years ago the only way to get this
mixture waa to make it at home, which
ia mussy and troublesome. Nowadays, by
asking at any drug store for "Wyeth's
Sage and Sulphur Compound," you will
get a large bottle of this famous old
recipe, improved by the addition of other
ingredifiits, for a lion t 50 cents.
Don't stay gray! Try it! No ono
can possibly tell that you darkened your
hair, as it does it bo naturally and
evenly. You dampen a sponge or soft
brush with it and draw thin through
your hair, taking one smnll strand at a
time; by morning the gray hair dis
appears, and after another application
or two, your hair becomes beautifully
dark, glossy and attractive.
Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Compound
is a delightful toilet requisite for those
who desire dark hair and a youthful ap
pearance. It is not intended for the cure,
mitigation or prevention of disease.

Drink lots of water and stop eating
meat for a while if your Bladdor
troubles you.
When you wake up with bnckaclio and
dull misery ill tho kidney region it gen
erally means you liave been eating tKj
much meat, says a well-known uuthority,
Meat forms uric acid which overwurks
the kidneys in their clt'ort to filter it
from tho blood und they becomo sort of
paralyzed and lopey. When your kidneys
get sluggiBh nnd clog you must rclio've
them, like you relievo your bowelB; re-'
moving all tho body's urinous waste,
else you have backache, sick headache,
dizzy Bpella; your stomach sours, tonguo
is coated, and when tho weather Is bad
you havo rheumatic twinges. Tho urine
is cloudy, full of ucdiment, channels often
get sore, water scalds and you are obliged
to seek Telicf two or three times during
tho night.
Either consult a good, reliable physi
cian at once or get from your pharmacist
about four ounces of Jad Salts; take
n tablespoonful in a glass of water
before breakfast for a few days and your
kidneys will then act fine. This famous
salts is mode from tho acid of grapes
and lemon juice, combined with lithia,
and has been used for generations to
clean nnd stimulate sluggish kidneys,
also to neutralize acids iu the urine so it
no longer irritates, thuB ending bladder
weakness.
9 -Tad Salts is life saver for regular
meat eaters. It is inexpensive, cannot
injure and makes a delightful, erler
