Meantime, the Ifritlsh have ap

I'eart and Force, miners of
Meadows cinnabar district, brought to
Medford Wednesday afternoon a
story of a rich strike mane bv them
that brings back memories of the fa
mous Klondike days, when the tales
of riches wrought from the eartli
sounded like l'airy stories.
llricfly, the partners state that
tlicv have n claim containing u ledge
iglit feet wide, at least twentv-l'ive
leep (the depth tovliich thev have
sunk their tunnels) nnd stretching for
a long distance across their property,
the ore of which runs on an average
of -H ht cent (piicksilvor, or .-flflOU
per ton. If these claims are substan
tiated, it means millions I'm- the own
ers millions that are readily avail-
ible, for cinnabar needs no complicat
ed, exieusivo smelting apparatus for
reduction.
A sample of the ore was left at the
display room of the Commercial club,
(hie mining man, himself n cinnabar
mine owner, who examined the speci
men said: "I'll have to take off niv
hat to that ore. It's the richest 1 have
ever seen."
The assay on the ore was made bv
a linn of San Francisco miniiie; en
gineers, one of whom visited the prop
erty last fall and look samples for
assay purposes from n large number
of places on the claim.
All through the Meadows nnd the
recently discovered Ilutte creek cin-
nab.'ir districts, extensive development
work is being done, nnd daily new
strikes are being made. That of
I'eart and Force, however, is the rich
est yet reported.
I'eart. has owned the property and
hasi boon quietly developing it, lately
with the help of Force, since 1 009.
Tunnels have been sunk to a depth of
twonlyfive feet, and in addition sur
face openings have been made ut doz
ens of points along the ledge.
With the opening of spring, the
present tunnels will be deepened, more
and larger oix'nings will he made
where it is possible to reach the ore
through surface excavations, and a
furnace of one ton capacity will be
installed. With this addition lo the
equipment they now have, I'eart uipl
Force expect lo handle their large
body n.f -ore effecicntly and profit
ably. OF
