Last Sunday we had a little ex
citement in our usually fpiiet town.
Will Lewis was just about ready to
start with his jitney for Mcdford
when one ot the company ot young
men, for ihcre were several had col
lected in front of Lewis' confection
ery, asked permission of Will to take
a little ride, and Hie request being re
fused, be still persisted in his plea,
and finally be cranked the cur and
jumped in. Still Will persisted in bis
refusal, but he started anyhow, ran
about a hundred yards, turned
aroiiml, came hack to Hie same place,
and just then Mr. Gorman drove in
front of the store, jumped out to pro
cure something, leaving his little boy
in the hack, and just then the car
driver arrived to stop the car, hut
something went wrong anil instead of
stopping it. ran right into the rear
