PASADEXA, Cal.. Jan. 2. The
I'niversity of Oregon was victorious
over tho University of Pennsylvania
in tho east and west football game
here yesterday. The score was 14 to
0. Oregon made the first six points
In the third period, when Tcgart car
ried the ball over for a touchdown,
following a sensational 35-yard run
by Shy Huntington. The second
touchdown was made in tho last
quarter.
Frequent punting and forward
passes marked the first half. Neither
sido was able to score.
Fast and snappy playing by both
sides kept the spectators on edge
early in the game, but there was a
perceptible slowing down in the sec
ond period.
Tho only substitution during the
first hair was of Qulgley for Deny.
Qnigley was sent In to try for a field
goal from a place kick on Oregon's
30-yard Hue. but failed.
Berry had the advantage of lleck
ett in punting, while both teams
seemed to be fairly evenly matched
in the general play.
Ideal weather prevailed. There
was a tremendous crowd.
The first period ended without
any scores being made with tho hall
on Pennsylvania's 40-yard line. T;ie
game hail developed into open play
with about an equal exchange of
punts and forward passes, - none, cf
the latter being very productive of
gains.
The first half ended with the
score: Oregon, 0; Pennsylvania 0,
and tho ball was on Oregon's 30-yard
line.
In the third quarter Shy Hunting
ton for Oregon, mado a 35-yard run,
and then bucked the lino for gains.
Oregon was beginning to penetrate
tho Pensylvanhi line. Oregon made
a touchdown on a forward pass to To-
gart, who was behind Pennsylvania's
line. Shy Huntington kicked tho
goal. Score: Oregon, 7; Pennsyl
vania, 0.
In the fourth quarter Parsons
made a 4 5-yard run around Peunsyl
vama's left end, being downed on
the S-yard line and later going over
for a touchdown. Shy Huntington
