Among the soloists, Miss Florence

charmed her auditors with her ren
dition of "Vissi d'Arte" from l'uc
dill's "La Tosca" and Mendelssohn's
"O for the Wings of a Dove." "Mil
ler's Wooing " by Fanning, was ex
quisitely rendered by Miss Ilazclrlgg
and Mr. W. V. Isaacs ami chorus. "In
flaniatus" from "Stabat Mater" was
delightfully sung by Mrs. Clny Child
crs and chorus. Fletcher Fish proved
his versatility in Gounod's "Sanctus,
Masse St. Cecelia."
Horace V. Reno of Ashland proved
himself a master of the cello in "Con
certo" by Galteriuenn, followed by
an encore. The other Instrumental
number was Tschuikowsky's "Chant
d'Autonime," a trio by V. Cnrleton
Jones on the violin, Mr. Reno on the
cello and Mrs. Janes on the piano

high prices, the market licit' suffered
another sharp slump today. Price
this morning were us low us 18 cents
a pound. Further price reductions
are expected.
NEW YOHK, Nov. 20 The price
of cold storage eggs at wholesale
was 1 to '1 cents lower than yester
day morning, when the eiri; boycott
bepin. F.ggs sold ut 34 to 118 cents
a dozen, according to grade. The
average price for fresh cfrgs was b"S
cents, as compared with fi") cents at
this time a year ago. The price of
fresh eggs .showed uo change from
yesterday.
Some wholesale dealers asserted
that the boycott would piny into the
hands of the foreign buyers. They
said that men who want eggs for ex
port arc waiting; for a price reduction.
CHICAGO, Nov. 21). City, state
and federal officials, together with
civic, women and other organizations,
were working today to solve the high
cost of foodstuffs problem.
It was announced that municipal
inspectors had discovered in storage
about 800,(100 eggs of questionable
quality, while more than 2,000,000
eggs were found in cold storau'e
houses awaiting' price increases. In
addition government inspectors found
110,000,000 eggs stored ill another
warehouse.

Cross to discontinue relief work In
Belgrade and In other parts of north

deepest gratitude to the Red Cross
for what has been dono and gavo no
reason for asking for its discontin
uance. Red Cross officials here, surprised
at the request, say the work practi
cally Is at a standstill because of the
Impossibility of securing supplies
since Rumania entered the war. The
work will necessarily cease about De
cember 1.
Nearly $75,000 has been contribut
ed to that section from this country,
while 100 carloads of supplies from
Rumanian relief committees and SO
from Swiss committees, assisted by
Charlos Fox, has cared for about 36,
000 people In Belgrade, and Dr. Ray
mond Ryan has endeavored to roach
about 100,000 In the interior.
American relief in southern Serbia
now is thrown 111 greater Import
ance by Austria's request and espec
ially by the advance of the allied
armies about Monastlr. Roports from
that city say 200,000 poople are in
distress, as the retreating armies of
the central powers aro said to have
stripped the city bare of food and
supplies. Shipments aro being pre
pared for that section.
PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 29. Tur
keys dropped to thirty cents a pound
in retail markots here today because,
dealers said, too many consumers re
fused to pay 35 cents, the price whicli
has prevailed all week. There are
so many Thanksgiving birds on hand
here it was said, many will bo kept la
cold storage until Christinas.,
