eral headquarters barn ot the Wester
lund orchards caused a loss of $6000,
covered by insurance totalling J1600.
Ignition of gas in nn Ingino used in
farm work caused tho blaze, a jet
ot flamo shooting out .from the ex
haust which set fire to highly inflam
mable hay. The fire spread with
rapidity, and before it ws under con
trol threatened other buildings.
Hay, 150 tons, 15 sots of harness,
three spray rigs, machinery, and wag
ons were destroyed, there being no
opportunity to Bave anything. When
tho flames were at , their height
sparks set fire to dry stubble In a
pasture. For a time It was thought
tliat other structures near the barn
would be set.
Tho fire was visible from the city
Tho loss Is especially heavy at this
time, owing to tho prcssuro of farm
work.
