Major Cushman CunnluKham, a
well known resident, died at Ashland
early this morning. He had been in
trail health tor some time past. He
leaves a wife and several children.
Funeral arrangements are hold,
rending the arrival of relatives. The
deceased was formerly city council
man from the second ward and for
years chairman of that body.

ness ut the outset, wheat prices to
day soon showed a decided tendency
to recover from yesterday's severe
setback. The opening, which ranged
from 2 u-8c off to 3-Sc up, wilh Sep
tember at $1.40 1-4 to $1.41, and
December at $1.13 3-S to $1.41 1-S.
was followed by a material advance
all around, hut then something of a
reaction.
Sharp additional gains were scored
later. The close was unsettled 2
to 3 Vic net higher, with September
at $ 1 . 4 3 V& anil December at $1.47 to
$1.I7V4.

Thcv went up Montlav and back on
Taesdav. Mrs. C. W. Culv and fam
ily, who have been visiting with Mr.
Cnly, who is the guard on the look
out, returned with the girls. The girls
left the Watkius ranch aliout 10 a.,m.
and got to the peak at 2 p. m., a dis
tance of seven miles, Ihrec miles of
which are "straight up." They said
that Ihey sure enjoyed the -upper
cooked ou the camp lire.

specializes on cooking, sewing and

the past week was the marriage of
Miss Lonore Harnett to Mr. Seldon
nillon Hill. Tho bride Is well and
favorably known in this city, having
spent most of heir childhood and
early young maidenhood hero. Sho
is a prominont member of troth social
and church life of the community
and the groom lias many sterling
and valuable virtues, which have won
him a high place in this city. The
good wishes and hearty congratula

young couple wherever they may go.
