Talent will have a permanent
choral club if present plans are car
ried out. About 15 interested
singers met last Thursday evening
and discussed plans for a series of
monthly rehearsals during the fall
and winter. The first rehearsal will
lie held Thursday evening of this
week at 8 o'clock in the high school
building at which time all Interested
In choral work are invited to bo
present. A few good selections have
been sent for and will be tried out
at that time. Tht organization will
also be perfected. Such an under
taking will be an excellent thing for
Taent, especially for the young foks,
who enjoy an evening once a week
in instruction under a competent
and experienced teacher. Talent is
fortunate In having In its midst Mrs.
J. H. Fuller, who is especially quali
fied and experienced in directing
chorus work.
The numerous disastrous fires at
Talent would lead one to think that
this town is not provided with fight
ing equipment. Such is not entirely
the case, however, but the lack 'of
organization makes It Impossible to
use such equipment to an advantage.
Steps should be taken to perfect a
fire company and members should be
assigned to definite positions. An
electric horn or desirable whistle
should be provided to call out mem
bers of the company at times of
fire, and a hook and ladder ap
paratus should be installed. A lit
tle attention to the matter might
save many dollars.
The School Industrial Club will
hold a meeting at the school house
Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. All
those enrolled in club work of any
description are requested to be pres
ent. Supervisor E. R. Peterson will
be here and a goad program Is as
sured. The solo, Helen Adamson;
