Mnn county, Oregon, March 2 1, 1803.
nnd died at bin homo In Medford,
Jackson county, Oregon, on tho 1th
day of Kebruary, 1310, having spout

Ho graduated from tho University
of Oregon In tho year 1880 and be
gan hln business career an n school
leachor, being compelled to roty en
tirely upon hln own resources.
Shortly nftcr his graduation ho
moved to Medford, then a small rail
road town, which had been In exist
onco but a few yoars. Mr. Vawtor
saw tho possibilities of tho communi
ty nnd In 1888 established tho Jack
son County bank, of which ho beenmo
pfcsldont. ilo remained at tho head
of that bank up to thn time of hln
death nnd made It one of tho strong
est Institutions of southern Orogon.

ho found tlmo for tho study of law
and In 1892 was ndinlttcd by tho hu
promo court to practice In all of tho
courtn of tho state. From that Itmo

member pf tho Oregon legislature and

was entrusted to his care.
