SCHILLING GETS
GIRL IS RELEASED
J. C. Schilling, a wealthy Coos bay I
stockman, who caused the arrest ot
Helena Bucklalno, known In this city
as Krelyn Taylor, at Fugcno Sat
urday afternoon,, on a charge of de
parting with his 1337 diamond ring
and 132 of his money, withdrew the
complaint against tho 19-year old
girl Sunday, upon tho return ot his
ring and 1 1,01. Schilling returned
to Medford this morning. Ho is
about CO years old, and is a married
man with a family. For tho last two
months he has been living In this city,
beig Interested in the Andrews Op
era company, as one of tho hackers.
Friends of Schilling class tho Inci
dent as a "Joke carried too far."
The girl In tho case was employed
at the Star theater as cashier, and
worked as a manicure. According to
friends of tho young lady Schilling
made dally visits to have manlcuro
work performed, being liberal In his
tips, and gifts of flowers and candy.
According to the story Miss Taylor
told tho Eugene police, Schilling gave
her tho ring and money, upon tho
assumption that he was liable to lose
It, and used her as a custodian. Sho
said she asked him what ho would
do If she should run away, and that
ho replied In a joking manner, that
It would mako no difference.
Tho local police say that Miss Tay
lor, as she was known here, bft Fri
day night in an ailo for GranU Pass,
where sho purchased a ticket for Seat
tle. Her disappearance was discov
ered by Schilling Saturday morning,
and after a search notified tho au
thorities, who Issued n telegraphic
warrant for tho girl's arrest. Schil
ling left on an evening train for Kit
gene Saturday, where tho matter was
adjusted.
Friends of Miss Taylor In Kugeno
aided her. Sho will continue her
Journey to the north.
