STORY OF ROSALIND
;TJ BE GIVEN AT
PAGE ON
MONDAY
"Rosalind," a clover little onc
1 net comedy by Harrlo, author of
Teter Pan," "Mtllo Minister." etc,
In to be Riven nt I ho Page, Momlny
ai'il Tuesday evenings, in connection
with tho regular program of moving
picture. The regular prices will
not be advanced, and the bill hldn
fplr to be one of tho most nttrnctivo
of the Reason,
The comedy Is given under the
auspices of tho Drama I.caguc. by
the League's amateur dramatic com
mittee. The object of tho League Is
not to make money, but rather to
give to.tho playgoers of Mcdford an
opportunity of seeing ono of the later
high-class plays. Tho cast Is an ex
ceptionally good. one. It Includes
Mrs. A, Conro Plcro, Mrs. Sooy Smith
and Fletcher Pish.
I'M Is Unique
The plot Is unique, and the comedy
la of the refreshing, subtle order
that depends for Its humor upon prob
able situations, rather than extrava
gant burlesque. Mrs. Flcro enacts
the part of a famous English actress
who was noted for her performance
rf $ellnd. The humorous situa
tion hinges upon her very youthful
appearance, despite tho fact that sho
t "ferty and a blttock," as tho
Seotch say. While In retirement.
she le stepping at a quiet little out-
of-the-way place, where she has
throWn off the make-believe that Is
neeeasary to keep up her girlish ap
pearance before the public. Sho Is
living the sober, easy-going life of a
nl44le-aged woman, wearing the
loose, comfortable garments of a
contented matron of 40. In order to
avoid explanations, she has written
across her own photograph & line of
endearment to her mother, so that
the Innocent English landlady thinks
the photograph Is that of tho daugh
ter ef Mrs. Page, rather than that of
herself.
To, add to tho humor of the situa
tion, Mr. Roche, a young English
gentleman of 23, who had formerly
been an admirer of the actress, stops
at the little wayside Inn during a
hewer, sees the photograph on the
Mantel, and Is told by the landlady
that Mra. Page, who at tho time, is
lying on the sofa, feigning sleep. Is
the mother of bis beloved Beatrice.
The young man wakes her up, in
order te make her acquaintance.
Actress that she Is, she plays the part
ef the mother for a time, and then
discloses her Identity. The young
man la heartbroken at the transfor
mation of bis Ideal, but when she
.leaves the room for a moment, and
reappears la her youthful attlr.e, he
la as madly In love as ever.
should Have Full House
Mrs. Plero Is most happily cast in
the part of Mrs. Page, tho actress,
which Is a part that runs tho entire
gamut of the emotions, as well as
impersonctlng mother and daughter.
Mrs. Sooy-Smlth, as the English land
lady, gives a characterization of the
part that would be satisfying to oven
as critical a stage manager as David
Bolaseo. Fletcher Fish Is always
Kood la everything In which he ap
pears, and he Is particularly well
adapted to Mr. Iloche, the young
Xagllsh gentleman of leisure. The
play would bo well worth a dollar
admission, and the fact that Is given
without auy advance over the regular
photoplay prices should assure a
crowded bouse.
