United Stales authorities, upon the

ham Injected an executive ban last

orders from -Washington.
Coming as tho second refusal did

it thoroughly exasperated the Japan

S. Shcba, editor of tho Hawaii

newspaper denouncing what ho said
was tho implication of tho refusal
namely, that tho Japanese were sus

The Dunbars carry a peal ot over
200 bells, made in Europe under
their own supervision, six octaves
chromatic and ranging in slzo from
one to 25 pounds. They are unlike
other belts lu that they aro soft and
mellow In quality, and sustain their

often been accused of having a small
organ concealed and operated in con
nection with tho bells.
Years of experience have resulted
In sucli a perfect system of manipu

ilr. Colo 1ms many friends in
Medfonl who linvo been jicrturbed
over his apparent detracted condi
tion of mind displayed o nthc pres
ent trip, nnd it 1ms just leaked out
what the disturbing elements arc. Mr.
Colo recently formed a partnership
with un acquaintance in n business
Ventura1 of some importance whereby
the firm, in anticipation of the sud
den rite in cost of mohair owing to
the European war, secured n flock of
Angora gouts in preparation of sup
plying tho deficiency in imports for
merly coming from Belgium. In or
der to keep down exjeiiseP, nnd inci
dentally bo in shape to meet compet
itive prices, tbe newly formed part
nership decided to personally drive
the herd of Angoras home themselves,
n distance of about twenty miles. The
drive proceeded without incident until
an open door of n roudside farm
house attracted the attention of the
flock, which proceeded immediately to
take possession. Tho entire herd of
angoras filed through the house, up
setting and eating a large supply of
apples, chair tidies nnd bric-a-brac
generally so dear to the aesthetic pal
ate of tho goat.
In the confusion resulting from the
noise of screaming women, brrking
dogs and yclliug fnnn hands, the
flock scattered to tho hills and ad
jacent mountains, and up to tho pres
ent time only about half tho herd has
been recovered.
Mr. Colo still has hopes of recover
ing tho wholo herd before tho war is
over nnd tho price of mohuir goes
back to normal, ns his many friends
throughout tho statu have buhied
themselves in advising him by wire
and letter of stray gonts being seen
nil the wav from the California to the
Washington state lines.
