Villa's statement Is In answer to
the stipulations of General Carranza
that with his own retirement, Villa
and Zapata should be eliminated
from military authority. According

llman resistance by Carranza of the
convention's orders will depend oi
the attitude of General Pablo Gon
zales, commander of tho division of
the east. He Is at Queretaro with
several thousand troops and Indica
