ing hit over the head with a horse
shoe, during nn argument on the
reservation last summer. Ho was
over 70 years of age, and n pioneer,
whoso forefathers founded Klamath
Falls, then known as Llnkvllle. The
defendant Smith Is n man about 'to

his people. The trial of Smith' will
Inst three days.
Following tho above trial the trial
of Jim George accused of tho murder
of Peter Drown will be called. Tho
evidenco In this case is entirely cir
cumstantial, and Is expected to last
three weeks, with nearly a hundred
witnesses to be heard.
