ThouRh tlio fair season is now virtually half over, there remains to bo seen somo of the largest of tho shows,
particularly in livestock exhibitions. Tho Oregon Stato Fair at Salem, beginning September 28; tho "Western
Washington fair at Puyallup, beginning September 20; tho Northwest Annual Livestock show at Lowistou,
Idaho, beginning November DO, and tho Pacific International Livestock Exhibition at tho Uuiou Stock Yards at
Portland, Oregon, beginning December 12, all offer opportunities for tho breeder of fine stock to exhibit tho
results of his training. t
Every breeder who has prido in tho stock ho can produce should bo represented at ono or more of the annual
fairs. Not only is it of valuo to him becauso of tho prizes ho may capturo, but also becauso of tho value of
association with other breeders. Many pointers may bo secured in conversation with other men Interested in
tho samo lines of work, and ovory breeder owes it to himself not only to exhibit his stock at tho fairs, but to
attend tho shows in person.
Tho handsomo onimal shown obovo was bred in tho Northwest and is a splendid specimen of three-year-old
steer. Ho is a cross botween a Hereford and a black Poll and is tho winner of numerous ribbons and medals.
