church was filled to its utmost ca
pacity last evening to bid farowcll to
Its pastor, the Rev. Mr. Eldrldgo, who
has Just been appointed pastor ot ono
of the prominent churches of Tort
land. The musical program was very
interesting nnd contributed very
largely towards making tho meeting
ono of the most memorable in tho
history of the church. Dr. I. L. Hill
in his remarks referred to tho very
high esteem In which Mr. Eldrldgo
Is held, not only by his own people,
but by those outside of church nnd
who regret his leaving. Ho further
commented on his gifts as n preacher,
n thinker and scholar, and as ono
gifted hy Intellect and heart to fill
nny pulpit that mar bo assigned htm.
He referred to the largo congrega
tions that attend his preaching, to
tho Increased membership during htn
pastorate, to tho splendid Sunday
school and IUblo class nnd to a
marked improvement on all lines of
church work during tho three years
he has been Its pastor.
Tho Rev. Mr. Tucker, pastor of tho
First Christian church, also spoke of
tho great help Mr. Eldrldgo had been
to him, ot how highly ho appreciated
tho friendship which existed between
thnm, of tho many kindly things ho
had heard ot him, both' as a preacher
and a pastor, and that ho was voic
ing tho feelings of tho best people
in Mcdford when he said that he was
very sorry to see him leave when ho
waB most needed.

basement and a very delightful even
