'"Tho company has already ordercJ
tho necessary machinery from the

Ho sa)s:
"Tho officers of the coempany be

demonstration has proved to their

both of which features are produced
by tho thread, or grain, of the tread
of tho tiro running at nearly acute
angles with tho roadbed Instead of
parallel thereto.
"The company guarantees tho Her

where his family resides, and left

In taking up the track, saja tho Ath
land Record,
This abandoned railroad was
bought several years ago from thu
Klamath Lake Lumber company, by
tho Weyerhaeuser Interests, alons
with n large tract of timber for the
cutting of which It wan partly built
Tlio railroad was put In at a cost of
about J 1.500. 000 by a timber corpor
ation composed of Mason, t.tndlo
and Kaufman. They built lumber
mills at Klamathon which burncl
down shortly after completion and
the timber was never cut being sol 1 '
soon thereafter to the Weyerhaeus
ers. As Mr. Frliell puts It "The
Weyerhaeusers arc now throwing
away a million and a half of dollars. 'I
The road did a general business for,
sonic time after the mills burned and
It was the original Idea that It wotiH
be built Into Klamath Falls. Th-
building of the cod brunch of the
Southern Pacific made this an un '
profitable proposition. The road wns
also used for a time by the Poke
gama Lumber company and more re
cently was leased to the California
Oregon Power company with the op
tion of buying. This company re
cently gave up Its lease.
Mr. Frlzell states that the rteel Is
still In first-class condition and will
bo stored at Thrall for a time- the
rails being taken up from the Poke
gama end. There Is n steel suspen
sion bridge over the Klamath river
which will also probably have to be
moved though Mr. Frliell lias hopes
that It may be sold to SUklyou county
as It stands and that they may take
over tho old railroad grade as a
wagon road. It Is rock-ballasted for
24 miles and would make a splen
did highway. Mr. Frlzell states that
he will have a crew- of about 50 men
on tho job.
