The Presbyterian church was or
ganized In ISSfi with nlno members.
Since Itn organization " 5 " have
united with tho church. The present
membership is 255. The enrollment
of tho Sunday school I 250. The
organizations of tho church arc: The
ladles' Aid, tho Woman's Mission
ary society, the Xicn'a duo, the
Young People's Society of Christian
Endeavor, tho Junior Society of
Christian Endeavor, tho F. I L. club
nud organized Sunday school classes.
Last year $3,000 was expended In
enlarging nnd Improving tho church
edifice. Thero is in this church n
plpo organ, and tho Interior Is mod
ern and up-to-dnto. Thero Is a
largo and finely equipped auditor
ium, a church parlor, a kitchen, and
club room or chnpel. The building
Is heated by a hot nlr furnace. The
church's property is valued at $40,-
000. This church stands for pro
gress, for righteousness, for truth,
for a clean city nnd for everything
that is uplifting to humanity. Tho
church is located at tho corner of
.Main and Holly streets, nnd by the
city park. Weston P. Shields is
pastor.

This church was organized about
1SSG. Tho present church building
was erected under tho pastorates of
J W. Miller and G. W. Qulmby. In
1S92 this church becamo self-supporting
and E. E. Phlpps was ap
pointed pastor. At that tlmo the
membership was less than 100 and
tho pastor's salary was $376.
Tho mombershlp has steadily in
creased until now It Is moro than
400, nnd the Sunday school enroll
ment Is over GOO. Tho financial and
benevolent woik of tho church has
kept paco with tho numerical growth,
Last year tho church building was
enlarged and remodelled at an ex
penso of about $3,000, which gavo
much needed room for both tho con
grcgatlons and tho Sunday school. A
largo tent has been added to the
church's equipment to provido for
tho Sunday school and for other or
ganlzations in tho church. This Is
needed in addition to tho room in
tho regular church building. This
church hns prospered greatly under
tho pastorate of E. O. Eldrdgc, tho
present pastor, and It still stands for
tho samo spirituality that through
John Wcstlcy gavo birth to tho Meta
odlst Episcopal church in all tho

Methodist KpUcopal Church, South.
Tho Medford Oakdale Avcnuo
Methodist church, South, situated on
corner of Oakdale and Main streets,
was erected in 1893 nnd dedicated
in September at tho annual confer
ence services by Ulshop O. P Fltz
geruld. This neat llttlo church
building and parsonago is located in
tho center of tho most beautiful part
of tho growing city of Medford. Tho
estimated value of this property is
$20,000.
Tho organization consists of 100
members with SO enrolled In tho
Sabbath school. Tlieau people are
loyal to their church, doing a noble
work for tholr master. II, M. Dran-
ham Is tho present pastor.

Tho First Free Methodist church
is located on tho corner of Tenth
and Ivy street. Tho organization of
tho Frco Methodists In this city was
effected about thirteen years ago and
coiiblstod of eleven members, three
of whom rcBlded at Taleut. Aside
from tho earnest endeavor to main
tain and set forth tho Issues of a
practical religion wo can boast of but
llttlo progress slnco tho tlmo of our
beginning hero. Wo now have a
Binall and modest church building
and a commodious parsonage. Our
prosent membership :h forty-two and
five of this number aro charter mem
bers. Tho church employs, a regular
Unliable (lulld of ladles who are
working for a new church building,
which, with the assistance of n spe
cial committee of men nud women
working for the same cause, they
hope to build In the near future
Tho church services nro being hold
temporarily In St. Mark's hall, In St.
Mark's block, n property which H
held by tho bishop for tho church,
and which Is one of tho most doslr
able buslunati blocks In the city.

The Firs.t llaptlst church of Med
ford was organized Juno 7, 1SSB.,
the first regular meeting July 4.
Midweek prayer sorvlco was estab
lished and has boon kept up to the
present time. In February, 1SS7, 1).
T. Law ton and S. L. Uennet were or
dained deacons nnd a house of wor
ship with n seating capacity of 300
was ereceted at a cost of $4,000. In
December, 7, the first llaptlst
Dlble school was organized and has
never missed a session to this day.
In 1905 It became necessary to en
large the auditorium. An addition
was built which gavo them a seating
capacity of GOO. Over $54,000 has
been raised for current expenses and
benevolences. Slnco Its organization
there has been received into Its mem
bership 1,030. This church supports
a missionary in the Philippine Isl
nnds The msslonary budget for this
year Is $700. Tho present pastor,
Hobert William MacCullough, Ph. 1.,
camo to this church in May, 1913,
and about 100 have been added to
the membership slnco his coming.
Christian Church.
Tho Christian church of Medford
with n membership of over 300, is
one of the leading churches of the
brotherhood In Oregon. Their pres
ent beautiful bungalow church, with
modern equipment, corner of Ninth
and Oakdale, was completed and oc
cupied Just a year ago nnd since that
tlmo tho membership has nearly
doubled nnd tho interest in all
branches of tho church work greatly
Increased. On tho last Sunday In
November tho attedancq at Sunday
school was 4C9, tho largest la the
history ot tho church and possibly
the largest Sunday school attendance
ever In Medford. The church is also
noted for Ha charity work nnd mis
sionary spirit. At n rovlval hold re
cently by Evangelist M. Putnam and
soloist. Miss Egbert, sixty-nine wero
added to the church. D. D Doylo,
during whose two-year pastorato thu
church made such splendid progress,
recently resigned owing to ill health
and went to California. Tho ehurc
will call another pastor early In the
new year. On Sunday, January 4,
the annual meeting and election of
officers takes place, to Do followed
by a program and "Home Coming
Dinner" at tho church.

Fifteen years ago this church was
organized In responto to the npppal
ot tho early Herman settlers ot Med
ford and vicinity. For twelve jonrs

character. With the Influx of Eng
lish speaking Lutherans and In the
recognition of tho fact that "the
faith once delivered to the fathers"
Is greater than any language, ser
vices aro now equally divided be
tween Herman and English, thus af
fording a congenial church home for
Lutherans of all niitlonlltlos on the
basis of the language of America. To
the many Lutherans nnd all others
thpy may bo trained In a thorough
knowledge ot the tuTlptures. The
