Kieff the prosecution has been en
deavoring to establish tho thcorv
that he was slain in accordance with
an alleged Jewish rite precribcd by
tho Talmud, so that his blood might
be used in making passovcr bread.
For centuries tho ignorant and su

"rite'' is regularly practiced by the

lieved he had traced the murder to
a gang of thieves to which neighbors

ment, covered with blood, wns found
