CAITLE $8 TO $8.60
HOGS S9 TO $9.40
SHEEP $4 TO $4.50
PORTLAND, July 21. Receipts
for the week havo been: Cnttlc,
1304; calves, 133; hogs, 225G; sheep,
C372.
Cattle market last week steady to
strong. Improved beef outlet had
bullish effect on prices. Prima steer
top $8.00 to $825 with bulk of steer
sales at $7.75 and $8.10. Eastern
Oregon steers nt $8.00 nnd cows
$7.75 featured. There hns been a
keen demand for choico butcher cat
tle especially cows and heifers. Sales
wcro mado in small quantities as tho
supply was comparitivcly short. Beat
cows $7.75 to $7.25, heifers $7.25 to
$7.50, choice bulls $5.50 to $0.00 and
choico light calves at $9.00.
The hog market was steady to
higher. One load of extra fine hogs
sold nt $9.40 Friday morning, bulk
of light swine sales $0.15 to $9.30.
Sound packers have been liberal buy
ers on tho market and the light mu
was quickly absorbed. Swine prices
aro apparently on a heavy basis 4t
least far tho present.
Sheep house business has been,
slow all week. Demand for both
mutton and Iambs has been light and
tho trade has shown no sign of im
provement whatever over previous
week's market. A liberal top is Oc
as somo very good stock sold at that
price. Prime killing ewes at $4.00,
wethers at $4.25 and yearlings at
$4.50 are extreme quotations in the
n.ulton division.
