The gang of enrpenters, plumbers,

employed on tho enlarging and re
modelling of tho Postnl telegraph of.
fico in the Nash Hotel building for
tho past few days have almost com
pleted their labor and tho office is

Tho Postal began competition hero
with tho older company for the tele
graph business as early ns 1892,
when not more than 1500 persons
comprised Mcdford's population.
Medford patrons of the Postal have
always had tho pleasure of having a
Indy manager to linndlo their mes
sages, every Postal agent hero from
tho timo of the late Miss Katheriuo,
Van Dyke, who was tho first agent up
to tho present manager Miss Came
ron, being of tho gentler sex.
Tho offico is finished in beautiful
Oregon pino from the floor to i
jMiint six feet up the walls, from
whence handsome old gold wall paper
extends to within twenty inches of
tho ceiling, whero n border of white,
with n watered satin effect mutches
tho ceiling, tho whole combining to
mnko tho offico ono of comfort and
pleasing to tho eye.
Tho report that Medford was con
sidering abandoning the July Fourth
celebration In favor of Grants Pas
was erroneous and at the meeting of
tho committee last night It was found
that no mombcr was lu favor of such
action.
Montague will tend a basebell team
and a largo delegation for tho cele
bration and a rip roaring time is as
sured. It was decided last night to
have daylight fireworks on the streets
In tho afternoon, the illuminated

Contra! avenue and a number of nov
elty races as well as horso races at
tho Fair grounds.

Interesting features of the day.
