derson, (he- next lightweight cham
pion of tho world, the boys will not

early in May. After seeing the
Wolgast-Murphy fight at Snn Fran
cisco they will go north by boat to
Vancouver, Wash., and stop here on
their way south to prepare for the
bout with Man dot May 20.
Local fans expected to greet An
derson royally on his arrival here
next Monday but will postpone the
welcome until Bud reaches here from
tho north. He expects to remain
several days in Medford.

John Tornow, the benstmnn, is dead.
Tho mail outlaw, it wns discov
ered by n sheriffs pose which vis
ited the scene of Wednesday's kittle
in the upper Snisop valley, yeMerdny
afternoon, to recover the bodies of
the trnppen, Ijouis ltlair and Charles
lnthrop, who, it was known, Tornow
had killed, found the body of the
mnninu close by.
Blair and Lathrop, with Deputy
Sheriff Giles Quinihy, fell into Tor
now's trap Wednesday, while track
ing him, when they approached the
abandoned shack where he was sup
posed to bn hiding.
Tornow, concealed in tho under
brush at the edge of the clearing,
shot down Blair and Lathrop and en
gaged in a riflo dnol with Quimhy
who fled when bis rifle magnzino wns
emptied. Ha reported the bnttle to
Moutcsnuo by telephone, saying that,
when he fired the lost shot, he saw
Tornow either fall or duck out of
sight and ho could not say if ho was
hit.
The pose found the body of Tor
now in n sitting posture besido the
tree from behind which ho hnd fought
his duel with Quimby. Qnimby's
Inst bullet had entered the outlaw's
forehead, killing him instantly. Thir
ty feet away tho posse found the
bodies of Blnir and Lathrop.
Including the victims of Wednes
day's fight, Tornow killed eight men.

ing ho would never return. Ho wns
of n taciturn disposition, believed in
