stration in the world's history. Suf

from distant lands, every conceivable

every type, every profession, every
age.

scries of mass meetings.

Women nnd girls in dazzling, white
flowing robes, on horse and nfooi,
marshalled the forces of equal rights.
Mounted on an immense whito charg
er, in a long, loose yellow tunic, car
rying a gilded trump t, was Miss Inez
Milhollnnd, the celebrated New York
suffragette lender. She was the
herald.
"Flower of American womanhood
joined in the celebration. Society
leaders in "hundreds" frote all cities
trndged sturdily beside humble h'ettsc
wives. Actresses, opera singers n:id
professional women whose names are
known in every country joined with
cnthtmiuMn. Senators, congressmen
and leaders of civic and political life
of tho nation mnrched with tho
women.
Pennsylvania, avenue, from the
captol to the White Houso was seeth
ing with densely packed humanity.
Grandstands erected for the inaug
uration ceremonies tomorrow were
jammed with spectators.

Flags, pennnts, buttons, handbills,
posters nnd'bnnuers of myriad colors,
combined with tho costumes of the
marchers, gave "Tho Avenue" a

suffrage literature were distributed.

with printed appeal for the ballot.
