It Is quite probable that tho first
federal portion In this section that
will be optt for a democrat will be
tho superlntendecy of Crater Lake
National park. F. W. Arttrtt, who
has held tho pdJItloti ever vlnco the
park was established, has always
been a strong partisan and was an
rtrdent supporter of Tatt during the
tho recent campaign. It Is Mid that
ho has soino hopo of retaining hi
position under a democratic presi
dent, but local democrats do not view
tho Kltuatlou lu this tight. There are
already four men seeking appoint'
ment under tho new administration
All oro democrats nnd wer strong
supporters of Wilson In the last cam
pnlgn. They are II. E. Momyer, who
has for several years been the chief
ranger in tho park: J. W. Bryant, ono
of the oldest settlers of the Klamnth
country nnd a southerner who served
In the Confederate rmy; W. M.
Whltlock. a local democrat who was
active In the support of Wilson and
Lane, and It. E. Hunsaker. another
lifelong local democrat. While nil
am asnlrants for the position It Is
tery likely that some sort of an
agreement will bo reached whereby
tho full forco of local democracy
wlll be placed behind ono of the
four.
