of four years. Should the new char
ter 1)0 adopted two members of the
council will be elected for two years
and two for four at the election fol
lowing, hut thereafter two will be
elected every two years to serve for
tho full term of four years. The
council in made legislative intend ot
administrative, tho mayor being the
adminibtrntivo officer of the city, and
tho charter provides that ho shall
have the exclusive supervision and
control of all tho business and af
fairs of the municipality.
The mayor shall give his exclusive
time and attention to the management
of the city affairs, for which he hhnll
receive a salary of $2,500 per year.
He must give a bond for tho faith
ful performance of his duties in the
sum of not less than .?10,000. He
bhnll presido over tho meetings of
the common council but bhall have
no vote except in case of a tic, when
ho shnll cast tho deciding vote on all
questions. Ho shnll at least once a
year filo with the city recorder, a
financial statement showing tho con
dition or otherwise, of the city, and
of all financial business transacted
by or Tor it during the preceding
yenr, which statement shall bo kept
on file with tho city recorder and
hubject, during all business hours to
public inspection. Said financial
statement shall bo publ'ihcd if thej
common council by ordinnncc or res
olution, shall provido and require.
