AT CRATER IME
Word eoines from Crater Lnkc to
the effect thnt when Manager Pnrk
liurst of tho Crater Lake company,
arrived at tho lodge he found that an
unknown 'vandal had done much dam
age to the camp during the winter
months. .
! Tho store rooms had been broken
open and the supplies that were not
eaten were scattered around tho

earnets: asphnltum was boiled in
enamel lined ware, dining room ta
bles were sawed up, holes were chop-
)K'd in tho floors, the entire supply
of firewood was burned, lead pencils
were thrown over the place, and gen
eral ruin was discernable everywhere,
The work of repairing the datungc
hns occupiid considerable time, and
the cost has been considerable.
No evidence was found to indicate
that the vandal was a trapper. A
man was seen coming from tho vi
cinity of tho camp last March. lie
was described by those who saw him
passing through Fort Klamath as the
hardest looking specimen seen in that
section in ages This is believed to
ljiive been the ninn who committed the
depredations.
' Now he was able to get to the
camp ill the Svinter time is u mystery.
And how he was able to travel from
Arunt camp to the rim, loaded down
with provisions, is another problem
Ifnrd to solve.

their attention is, . called f,6 the following pronouncement
by (he fassaeh'usCttis "Woman's Suffrage league. It would
be difficult to evolve a sitner, calmer or more logical presentateon:
"A country, a people, must progress if it is to con

of the progressive movement toward a more efficient and
real democracy.
"We believe that tux paying women need the vote
to protect their financial interests.
"We believe that mothers and home makers need the
vote to enable them to secure legislation concerning san

the accepted method of individual self expression in

"We believe that the state needs to utilize directly
the knowledge and experience of women in those mallei's
of social welfare in -which they are especially interested,
just as it needs to utilize directly the knowledge and ex

largest membership list with which
any local club has begun work.
With Miss Cope as temporary
chairman the following officer.- wero

to do their work so well that wh"ii
the suffrage for women amendment
is voted on in November there will
not be one dissenting vote in their
part of the county.
The regular weekly meeting of the
Medford Suffrage Club will be held
in the headquarters in the Sparta
