people thore arc safe hut It Is thoughtJ
that seven fishing villages with a
total nonulatlon of about 200 on the
Alaska-peninsula in' the 1m media to vi
cinity of Kntmai volcano were de
stroyed by the eruption last Thurs
day. These villages were Cold Bay,
Katmal, Kanatuk, Douglas, Sava
noosky and Kamgamutc.
Tho volcano has resumed its nor
mal state and the atmosphere is clear
lug -so tha boats will be able to got

At Uyak tho fall of ashes amounted
to four Inches. Peoplo there are suf
fering. This is one of the places on
