test, and when they withdrew the

thrown to Mr. Underwood. The fight
of the allies In. Florida was centered
on Mr. Underwood for the reason
that a large part of Alabama Is con
tiguous to Florida, and it was
thought that lu would make the
stronger race there. It was agreed
that Mr. Underwood could make a
better fight than either Governor
Harmon or Speaker Clark against
Governor Wilson In that state be
cause of the fact that appeal could
be made to the neighboring
mental feeling.
