Klamath Falls-Natron cutoff. Chi-"

Sprague river. The Southern Pa
cific lias made npplfcntion for a
townsite at that point, and estab
lished a station. George Gentry has
opened a hotel and livery stable, and
others are preparing to establish gen
eral merchandise stores. An excur
sion to Kinmnth Falls from Chiloquin
is announced for July 15. This will
be the first excursion on the new
rond.

he was but a lowly mariner and did
not care to commercialize tho saving

Local officials of the steamship
company deny that its San Francisco
office sent such a message. Captain
Faria says it is true, and Captain
Erlckson says he was asked by Faria
how much It would cost to transfer
tho passengers.
Claims no Lives Lost.
Declaration that not a single pas
senger lost his life In the wreck of
the Pacific Coast Steamship Com
pany's vessel the Santa Rosa, when
she struck on the rocks off Point
Arguello was made here today by of
ficials of that line.
In a statement issued by Assistant
Wilson, In the office of General Pas
senger Agent Duneen, assertions that
twenty-one of tho passengers were
still unaccounted ror were derided.
"When we had finished checking
up the list of passengers who were
aboard when the wreck occurred we
accounted for all but three," said Wll
son. "Investigation hero revealed that
of those three, two had decided not
to make the trip and their tickets had
been redeemed. The third had taken
another boat to Los Angelos."
