as $60. Agents of the California can
neries will soon bo operating In Ore
gon, particularly In tho southern part
of tho state.
California fruit prices generally
will not bo high this year, nor will
thuy bo cheap, except In the case of
grapca, as ho canners nnd dried fruit
men aro short. Grapegrowers cannot
expect to get fancy prices with the
big crop they will have.
California has a normal crop of
peaches this year and also of plums.
Tho crop of apples will bo big, as Is
also the case throughout the east.
Tho California apricot crop Is not
heavy and as the drlod fruit men are
short and aro paying high prices, the
market Is firm. Next week will see
tho heaviest movement In apricots.
There is a big crop of cantaloupes
In tho Imperial valley and In central
California. Accounts are easy enough
to got this year, In fact, there arc
mioro shippers than sellers. The same
applies to watermelons. Tho canta
loupo crop is a llttlo lato in Fresno1
and Tularo counties, but tbero will bo
plenty of them when they como In.
The vines are In fine shape. It will be
two woeka before shipments begin
from Tularo and Fresno.
There will bo a big crop of grapes
of all kinds. The output of Tokays
will bo the largest the state has ever
