to date, Ot 1,708 claims 640 navt
resulted in cases against tho filers,

orable reports of government agents.
The remaining 344 claims aro now
being investigated.

the fame of tho local granite used in

idly over the country. Two carloads
of manufactured stone were recently

PORTLAND, Or., May 21. Ac
quitted of the clinrgo of malfeas
anco of office, it is believed prob
able that Chief Cox will return 'to
his duties in tho near future. Chief
Cox today declined to speak of his
future plans in this regard.
The charges against Cox resulted
from u crusnde of disorderly houses
and it was alleged that he refused
to closo them. Following his indict
ment by the grand jury Cox re
signed temporarily.
