and Imttered counter carried Its half
century of services well and there are
those of the older inhabitants who de
clare that It still bore the marks where
Ooncral Sherlcian used to sit on Its elge
and crack his booted and spurred heels
against Its sides, whllu he told war
stories to a privileged circle of his cro

name first became linked with the his

In tho drug store, one of tho two or

Judgo C. IJ. 'Watson, who dispensed
across It the simple remedies of tho

In his young manhood and again In

In Ashland and up and down the valley.
When visiting this city after tho war,
tho old drug store was one of his favor

him a circle of congenial spirits, he
would mount tho counter with tho ex ex

home."
Thereupon he would launch forth Into
somo of his war stories, which were a
source of unfailing Interest, especially
to those who had known him before tho
days of 'CI, when Sheridan had started
for the cast with tho declaratien:
"When you seo mo again, boys I'll
