FRANCHISE
BE TIG OF PAST
The city council passed a resolution
to, first reading at Its Inst meeting
declaring the John n. Allen electric
trolley line franchise as null and
void. Over a year ago this company
was granted a franchise to build nn
electric road and street car lines
over the streets nnd avenues of the
city of Medford, tho franchise to run
fifty years providing tho company
started work by January 1, 1911. An
additional time was allotted as the
company had placed ties along the
streets. Recently the council decid
ed that as this Is not actual construc
tion work and none has been attempt
ed since the franchise should be ro
vokod. Mayor Canon did not wish the
council to pass tho action through its
third and final reading so it was
laid over until tho next meeting.
Canon said, "This may hurry them
up and wo do not wish to bo hard
on them."

of tho amount bid for, said check to
bo made payable to the city treasurer
of the city of Medford, nnd to be for
feited to said c'ty in case said bid
is arcopted and said bonds aro not
purchased In accordance with snld
proposition within 20 days after the
notlco'of said acceptance.
All bids to bo filed with the city
recorder nt any tlmo before 5 o'clock
. m. April 18, 1911. Tho council
reserves the right to reject any and
all bids.
