vanced, it was Bliown that tho prop
erty in question, now held by the
school board fr fi playground, had
been dedicated to the city originally
nnd then turned over to the school
board, and because of the fact tiint
the ground hnd so far cost the
school board prncticnlly nothing,
some of the members of the council
woro ngainst any riding by which tho
school board should profit finnn

property to nllow a street to bo put

the placing of a street there is of
no benefit to tho school property and,
on the other liuud, if anything is a
detriment. Mr, Day, tho owner of
an adjoining parcel of property with
whom members of tho board have
had dealings concerning tho estab
lishment of a strcot threre also ap

lower than tho former offer, was
thought by some high, especially in
view of the fact that tho company

council, and passes after a provision
had been added that tho money paid
for expenses will be refunded when
tho territory In which the work Is

started negotiations with tho South
ern Pacific railroad company for tho
purpose of securing property upon
which to establish suitable hitching
racks.
Just as soon ns tho railroad com
pany announces a willingness to
agree to the arrangements, tho city
engineer will tnke plats of tho two
proposed racks.
One will bo located In the rear of
the Union Meat company's building
and another just a short way south of
tho meat company's plant.
