THURSDAY
A PROMISEFUL YEAR
JUDGED bv the number of inquiries being received by
the iMediortl Commercial Club, tho year 1911 promises
to be the banner year Tor immigration of liomeseokers to
the Rogue River Valley.
iMore requests have been received for literature, more
people have signified their intention of coining here then
in any previous year in the history of Medford. The city
and valley are better advertised than ever before, and
with the coming of spring, will come the homeseekers. '
Oregon has been truly named "the litst west," the on
ly remaining section of tho United States undeveloped.

nia, the tide of immigration that has peopled those states
is now pouring into Oregon. Much of our section, rich in
natural resources, is still undeveloped. Though settled for
vears, the country has been
in spots.
The Pacific west will ever
millions of the east. It is destined in time, to sustain an
enormous population. Conditions of life are so desirable
that an ever increasing army of homeseekers will yearly
wend their way to this land of promise.
"Wo, who are building the foundation of a city and
planting the piuhcer orchards in the greatest fruit belt in

showered upon the land by nature.

and the Mormon Temple has aroused wide-spread
indignation.
The Presbyterian ministers association of New York
has adopted resolutions of protest which conclude as fol
lows :
"The insignia of any church has no place on the service
of a United States 'ship, and the insignia of the Mormon
Church so placed in an insult to the Christian people of
the whole country."
The point is well titken.' Separation of church and state
is an acknowledged policy of the nation. As well put
Dowie's picture on as Drigham Young's, in fact. Dowie was
the more respectable of the two. lie at any rate, obeyed
the nations laws.
If Utah insists upon using Brilliant Young's picture,
it should be accompanied by a collection of his forty or
