Apple growers have been praying for cold weather,
claiming the records of years sjiow that a fancy apple crop
only follows a cold wilder and that frost is necessary to
drive the. sap into the soil to insure flavor and keeping qual

-As a result ol the present winter the growers expect
to duplicate records made in 1905, 1907 and 1909, banner
apple crops every alternate season being the rule.
A little cold weather is a welcome change to all of us.
We have so many warm and pleasant days that a, taste of
winter is needed fo make us appreciate our average cli
mate. But the snow will last but a day or two, and the cold de

lie wearing her green witchery and ere long the orchards
and hillsides be a mass of fragrant bloom.
