Ed Watson has been filling tin'

The dance, of Monday evening was
well attended and greatly enjoyed by
all who attended the affair.
Work is still being done on some
of the bad places of our roads, and
it makes them a little better to
travel.
Wo have not had any sickness to
amount to anything hereabouts dur
ing the whiter and the doctor has
not been called once to our commu
nity to look after patients.
Frank Netherland is suffering
from a bad carbunclo upon his neck,
which makes him quite sympathetic
for those who are "boiling over."
Pembroke Williams of Georgia,
who is with the foresters, eme down
to the town on Monday and says
that the camp has been moved a lit
tle higher up in the hills; that p)1
the boys are well and the work going,
on; thnt they regale themselves with
music of the violin and banjo and
are- having n plcnsnnt time.
We are all looking forward to the
approach of spring, as many tire
said to be the improvements which
will be made and the industries in
troduce or established. There is
certainly room for them, and the
townsite might be much improved,
if social features were not overlook
ed, as we want more than n mill
town. Families of standing arc
needed to raise the moral tone and
to invite the incoming of people who
will make for the upbuilding of our
town and with what we have already
it would not be long before we have
an inviting section mid village where
great and' profitable industries might
bo planted.
Wi(h the approach of January a
change will be made in our local
court, Judge 1'entz having positively
declined to act further, and he will
be succeeded by Ed Watson, whom
we hope may have a pleasant ex
perience in enring for the judicm1
affairs of the town.
Rev. Mr. Jones expects to begin
continuous services in Janunry, and
w'e hope he may bo disappointed, but
the greatest success may attend his
efforts, lie should ho encouraged
in his work, as he is the right man
in the right place and can do much
good with the co-operation of tlm
community.
John Whnrton, who has been in
the valley for several months, lun
returned to Butte Falls.
There is not much work going on
at the mill, but spring will find it
going some, as thero will he need o'
lumber for buildings and railroad.

the family residence Sunday, Janu
ary 3, 1011. Albert Ledford recent
ly arrived here with his parents from
the cast to mako this place their fu
ture home. Of. a sunny and cheer
ful disposition, the boy soon gained
n largo circle of friends, who sym
pathize with the family in their grout
bereavement. The body will be
taken cast for burial.

entertained Eagle Point relatives on
