The Perfection Oil Heater Is finished In Japan or nickel. It burns for
nine hours. It has a cool handle and a damper top. It has an automatic
locking flame spreader which prevents the wick from being turned high
enough to smoke, and is easy to remove and drop back so that the wick can be
quickly cleaned. An Indicator always shows amount of oil in the font
' Tho filler-cap does not need to be screwed down. It Is put In tike a cork
In a bottle, and is attached to the font by a chain.
The burner body or gallery cannot become wedged, because of a new
device in construction, and consequently, it can always be easily unscrewed in
an Instant for rewicking. The Perfection Oil Heater is strong, durable, well
made, built for service, yet light and ornamental.

CHICAGO,. 111., Jan. 3. The year
1010' saw all records for gross earn
ings of railroads broken, the total
reaching $2,935,374,581, being an in
crease of $227,107,702 over the 1909
total and $214,085,772 over the pre

of 1907. But the net earnings fo,
the year are only $3,588,501 over
1009or little more than one-third of
1 'per 'cent, due to the great increase
in operating expenses. The advance
in expenses were so great during tho
first half of the year that the net
receipts for tho last six months wore
.$33,259,250 loss than for the same
porioif during the preceding year.
During the year 4120 miles of
rohtrwero built, 3787 locomotives or
dered, 3881 pnbscngcV cars purch
ased and 141,204 freight cars
bought by tho several roads opeint
ing in the country. The taxes paid
by the railroads aggregate $94,004,

for 1910 were $1,928,557,470. an in-
