IS stated Unit the guiding motto of J. Pierpont Mor
gan, most famous of American financiers, lias been the
advice of his equally famous father, James S. Morgan,
"Don't be i bear on America. Remember one tiling al
ways. . Any man who is a bear on the future of the United,
States will go broke. There will be manv times when
things look dark and cloudy in America, when every one
will think that there has been over-development. But re
member, yourself, that the growth of this vast country will ',
take care of it all. Always be a bull on America.
Morgan lists faithfully followed this advice and today
is "rt" in America.
And what is true of America as a whole, is much truer
of the Pacific coast, which fate has destined j'or tlu? great
est future of any section of the globe, which nature has
showered with resources exceeding those of any known
land.
The fortunes made and to be made on the Pacific
coast, in Oregon, in the Uogue river valley, and in Medford
have been and will be made bv those who have faith in the
future and back their faith with enterprise and industry.
Don't be a bear on the future of the Rogue river valley
or of Medford. You'll go broke if you are. Its growth
will lake care of it all, if vou do your share in aiding its
development.
Don't be afraid of our development. As .vet the re
sources have scarcely been touched. A hundred times the
present population can be supported and yet not equal
that of older countries. Do your share in tapping this
potential wealth.
No calamity howler ever succeeded. The future de
pends entirely upon the optimism of the community and
its faith in itself and its future, and hence upon oxovy per
son in it. Medford has got the ball started; her citizens
should pull together, keep it going, and soon it will roll of
its own momentum.
Don't lie n bear on Medford or you'll go broke. Al
ways be a bull on Medford.

KINGS OF THE APPLE WORLD.
ONCE again the Oregon apple has demonstrjtjpd its
superiority over the apples of the world. ,.,..,
For two years in succession, the Oregon S.pilacjiberg
lias captured sweepstakes at the Spokane National Apple
show. I'aiQ
A year ago, Rogue river valley apples won chief hon
ors at Spokane. This year, Hood river apples wiii''tlulm.
But while Hood river was winning at Spokajte Rogue
river was winning at the Canadian apple show'-Vtl Van
couver, where Newtowns captured first prize.
And Rogue river valley Newtowns from Asliland, the
only carload exhibit from this section, won second place
tit Spokane, where Hood riverwith several cars, won first,
on account of superior pack,', the different scores being
1)88.1 to 9811.7 with a perfect score of 1000.
These national apple shows have conclusively demon
strated tne pre-eminence oi the Oregon apples as grown in
Mie two great apple belts Rogue river and Jlood river.
These two .sections are without a rival in the world when
it-omesto producing the perfect apple, .and tho Rogue
Tiyerwitnout any rival for growing perfect pears.
The judges at these national apple shows are world
'anions pomological experts and their decisions cannot be
liiestioned. , ... .
The Rogue river valley cOngratuhies the HooiLriver
valley and the two sections will work together to keep the
prizes in Oregon. All Ave have to do is show what "we" have.
Phe world cannot beat Oregon in tipples.
