Lawson inino at Black Diamond may
yet Hive, two searching parties arc
working from either end of the un
derground death trap with feverish
haste.
It is tho theory of tho searchers
that tho five men who wero on their
way to tho surfnoo at tlie time of the
explosion, lie entrapped. If not ov
ercome by the deadly after damp, ex
perienced miners say they .may bo
alive. In that event it is possible
that another 48 hours may reveal
their fate.
General Manager James Anderson
says tho mine will bo reopened if the
expense does not oxced $100,000. If
tho oxponso is above that figure the
Lawson mine will bo nbnndoned, a
blackened monument to underground
