sight.
John Brown (not he whose soul
goes marching on), but him that Is
preparing to put up a two-story brick
business blo.'k, haa caused tho largo
plno roof trco to bo felled and re
moved from his yard, preparatory to
the erection of tho afore-mentioned
building on tho corner of Fourth and
rino streets.
James Shlolds has tho frame work

The Y. M. C. A. people aro ex
tremely slow In securing and accept
ing plans for their building Tho
funds were raised in elx days, but
the building will not bo raised in
six months.
It is reported that the Central
Point hotel is shortly to go under a
new management. The newly mod
ernized building is an inviting homo
to both travelers and transient and
will doubtless be a success under tho
proper landlordshlp, and it is now
and has been for some time a rec
ognized fact that Central Point needs
a modern hotel.
Th"efirstnumberof theBrIttLy
ceum course was not a financial suc
cess and only a partial success In
tho way of entertainment. Ernest J.
Slas is unquestionably a man of rare
talent and oratorial ability and bis
lecture, "The Lost Chord," is un
questionably able, logical, but the
speaker only gave us about half of
tho "lost chord," then lost the other
hnlf and turned his splendid oratory
Into a "Potor Ponder" series.
Rev. J. E. Day, who Is to edit tho
now paper to bo launched nt oWod
vlllo was transacting business In Cen
tral Point on Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Day Is not sure when tho first
nuinbor will appear, but has tho
guaranteed support of flvo Wood
vlllo business men, with promises
from Grants' Pass. This amount of
support Is not nt all flattering for
an editorial Thanksgiving dinner.
Tho llttlo daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

extra buildings aro nocessary to hold
iho largo shipments Mr. Jones Is
also contemplating tho building of a
fine new home, which ho expects to
furnish, In southern stylo.
In lieu of houses, flvo more tents
were pitched by nowcomors Satudr-
day. There Is no such thing possible
as housing tho peoplo who aro arriv
ing every week, and the only salva
tion is tents as a tomporary sholter.
A department pavilion would bo a
monoy-makor hero at present.
J. E. Murphy expects to start for
Santa Cruz, Cal., in a few days,
where ho will remain permanently.
We are sorry to lose Mr. Murphy.
A. E. Lo Ponte has returned from
a business trip to northern Califor
nia.
Central Point needs an all-round
good restaurant and eating house,
where the man who tolls can got a
meal to sustain mascle. The "all-go-hungry"
hash houso Is not the
thing for working men. Good loca
tion hero and plenty of business.
"Wo aro to have soma 20 temper
ance lectures here before election
day. It would seem that It requires
a heap o talking to keep a wet peo
plo dry.
If a dozen "holp wanted" advor-

We have a 200-acre tract between Talent and Ashland, located on the main road, with about 75 acres planted to
pears with peach find's. Stock and machinery go with the place. The price per acre is about half what others are
asking for similar tracts, and we can make very easy terms. If you want a platting proposition you should not over
look this. It is priced low for a quick turn. If interested let us show you this property.
