at the reservoir on the hill cast of
town threo months before the water
system was accepted by the city of
ficials, and had konl him thevo like
a Jupiter PJuvius to open the wator
gates when fircB in Medford called
for moro moisturo and urcssuro. Mr.
Baker said that he had paid the iniiii
$1M for his three months' service
and that it was only just and right
that the city should reimburse- linn
for his expenditure. Mayor Canon
argued, on tho othe.i' hand, that the
ciiy had been allowed no jurisdiction
over the reservoir before its accept
ance and that only part of tho bill
should be paid. Councilman Dom

mayor and council by stating that
water had been allowed to run over
tho sides of tho reservoir when tho
people of Medford' and their lawns
woro thirsty. Baker claimed that lit
tlo wator was wasted and that wator
was refused the suffering people -in
order to have a full tank for a fire
emorgonoy. The open discussion of
tho proposition was dropped without
nny notion, as Contractor Baker re
fused to compromise, and City Re
corder Telfer began reading over tho
bills against tho city, including a $3
burial item for a deceased ennino.
