RUBE WADDELL MAY LOSE
ONE OF HIS RECORDS
ST. LOUIS, Mo., Aug. 0. Rube
Waddell, eccentric twirler of the St
Louis Browns, who has just been re
instated after sticking strenuously to
tho water cart for 30 da3's, finds thnt
he is in danger of losing one of his
Tecords. "Wonderful Walter," who"se
last name is Johnson, and who puts
'em over for the Washington Ameri
cans, is likely to make a new strike
out record. So far 107 men this rea
son have poked the air in the places
where they thought "Wonderful" was
going to put the ball and didn't. If
he keeps up the clip the fans figuie
he will easily hang up a number that
will make Wuddell's 1903 record of
301 strikeouts look insignificant. Ty
Cobb, after failing to solve Johnson's
benders, has concluded that he is the
"greatest ever" and other heavy
sluggers of the Americans ore will
ing to agree. Johnson is an Idaho
product.

Make Every Dollar Worth
More Than a Dollar!
An educated ad reader will never be poor.
To "know advertising" is to have a prac
tical knowledge of values of things of
when and how and where to buy. No one,
having and utilizing such knowledge, could
ever be unthrifty, or in any sense careless
or reckless of expenses. For such knowl
edge makes for thrift for saving. It makes
one proof against shams false values
manipulated reductions.
The intelligent ad reader uses as much
thought and ability in buying things as is
required in earning the money that is spent
for them. And that amounts to a substan
tial increase of the value of every dollar
of the family revenue!
