while she was being backed down the
stream, laden with over 2,000,000,
feet of lumber for Tsingtau, China.
An examination by a diver disclos
ed the fact that the abandoned pier I
is gripping the steamer's plates
amidships.
It is believed that she can be
floated after 1000 tons of her cargo
is taken off. This comprises about
half her deckload. If this does not
prove sufficient, the remainder of
the decklond will be swung over the
side.
